Our Green Philosophy

After five generations on our farm, we feel that our continued commitment to improving the quality of the land remains an integral part of our farming operation. Our fundamental principles and core values are based on stewardship of the land our ancestors settled. We strongly believe in a sustainable approach to farming and utilize the following practices to maintain the environmental integrity of our farm:

• Water conservation through the use of drip irrigation

• Crop Rotation to increase soil nutrients and minimize pests

• Woodlot Management to improve the health of the forest

• Cover Crops to reduce water and wind erosion as well as soil compaction

• Integrated pest management using minimal pesticides only as required

As part of our on going commitment we participate in the Environmental Farm Plan Program. It is a voluntary self-assessed program that helps us to further develop our action plans for continued success.

In addition to our sustainable production methods we promote waste reduction by using recyclable, biodegradable or reusable containers for our fruits and vegetables. This is something we feel strongly about and encourage our customers to bring reusable shopping bags and containers when visiting our store.
